Average sickness per year per worker is 21 days. This costs:
Cost of employing someone from an agency to replace a worker on sick leave:
Total cost to cover the sickness period £1,083.60 + £1,315.44 = £2,399.04
Therefore, for a full-time person on your books, the extra cost to the employer is:
Total Cost = £2,741.76 + £2,399.04 = £5,140.80 This equates to £98.86 per week
Cost of employing a temporary worker for 40 hours = £7.83 x 40 = £313.20
Cost of employing a permanent worker is: £6.45 x 40 = £258 + extra costs related to holidays and sickness of £98.86 = £356.86
Therefore the difference between employing a temporary worker over a permanent worker is £43.66 per week.
This equates to a saving to your company of £2,270.40 per year per permanent worker.
